Child of Light Gets a New Dev Diary Focusing on Art and Gameplay

March 21, 2014 by Stephen Daly

The game ‘takes place in the soft, colourful, and magical universe of Lemuria.’

Ubisoft Montreal has released a new developer diary for the upcoming Child of Light which focuses on the game's art and gameplay.

Child of Light casts players as Aurora, the daughter of an Austrian duke, who wakes up in the "soft, colourful, and magical universe of Lemuria," and must find her way home to her father. Aurora is guided by a creature called Igniculus who can be controlled by a second player.

Both characters have unique abilities with Aurora having access to a sword and magic to defend herself while Igniculus can heal her or blind enemies. In battle, players will encounter the 'active time battle system meter' which counts down until each character can move.

Inspired by "fairy tales and epic poems" Child of Light is styled on Japanese role playing games and the art of John Bauer, Edmund Dulac, and Georges Rackham.

The game will be released on April 30th for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One for $14.99.
