Shinobi, an upcoming game for the 3DS is looking to retain the retro feel of previous Genesis titles while still using modern tools to make it awesome. It is still a side-scrolling game, and Mr. Frost, the interviewee, said they wanted to change the combat up so that it wasn't so one-dimensional. “More often than not in the older titles you would kill enemies in one hit and the environment was kind of stagnant. We wanted to change it up.”
According to Mr. Frost, much like the third title, there will be horseback riding sequences. There will also be a new grappling hook to enhance the platforming elements of the game. When Mr. Frost was asked about the story portion of the game he could say nothing about it other than “The places in the game you're going to be going are very expansive.”
No launch date was discussed.
