Nintendo has revealed in their 1st Direct of 2014 that Little Mac from Punch-Out is joining Super Smash Bros For Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
Punch-Out was originally an arcade game in 1984, known for its unusual setup and use of digitized speech. The Punch-Out we all know, of course, is Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out for the NES, the home port from 1987 that famously let you work your way up to the ranks to fighting then world champion Mike Tyson. Punch-Out received sequels in Super Punch-Out for the Super NES in 1994, and the Wii game simply called Punch-Out in 2009.
The preview showed a really fun looking montage of Little Mac training, only to end with him in a Smash Bros stage, significantly smaller than Samus Aran. On the other hand, his attacks can hit multiple enemies, so it seems Mac has picked up a few new skills that will serve him well in his new game.
As if it were another reminder, our last screenshot shows Samus in ball form in the Punch-Out gym, and implies a rivalry of sorts with the famed Metroid bounty hunter. What do you guys think? We knew that Nintendo planned a huge announcement for the Direct, and without a doubt this one is a knockout fans for rabid fans.
