Doom Eternal Update Is Adding Empowered Demons

May 11, 2020 by Dennis Patrick

Fight against a demon that slew another player.

When 2020 hit there were more than a few highly-anticipated video game titles launching into the market. One of which was the sequel to the 2016 release of Doom. Doom Eternal launched into the market and was quickly well-received by fans and critics alike. However, unlike Doom 2016, the development team at id Software had plans to give fans enough content to enjoy post-launch. We’re about to see some bigger changes to the game with the upcoming release of Update 1. One of those changes actually brings players some beefed up demons to fight against.

Update 1 is coming to Doom Eternal and it’s going to bring a few new fixes, features, and enhancements to the overall game. However, arguably the biggest change up is the addition of Empowered Demons. These are demons that are going to get buffed after successfully slaying a player in-game. Once the demon gets the upper hand against the player, they will be transported from the campaign and brought to another player’s campaign at the same spot. Though we’re not sure if there are many ways of telling which demon is buffed outside of possible icon just yet. Instead, we know that the game will buff the demon in a player’s campaign, and when defeated, they will receive extra loot and XP.

This looks to be a random occurrence situation with the demon buff just being added into a random player’s campaign. We’re sure that this will give players a potential incentive in trying to replay the game once again to see if there are any new buffed enemies that end up in their campaigns. Of course, outside of the buffed demons, you’ll find some other updates and features being added to the game.

Currently, Doom Eternal is readily available for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms. If you want a bit more insight into the overall game and our initial impressions of the title then check out our Before You Buy episode upload featured down below.
