Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is set to see the release of its first single-player DLC adventure launch this Tuesday.
Arriving in the form of Freedom Cry, the DLC takes place fifteen years after the events of Assassin’s Creed IV and puts players in the role of Adewale, a former slave and the first black male assassin to be featured in the series. Last year’s Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation featured a black female protagonist, Aveline.
The storyline in Freedom Cry revolves around the Caribbean slave trade, which rests among history’s darkest times. Unlike the original story, which was remained a fairly light-hearted tale of piracy and adventure for the most part, Freedom Cry takes on some darker tones.
Adewale, now a fully trained Assassin, decides to take up arms against the slave trade. Armed with a machete in one hand and a blunderbuss in the other, Adewale is a force to be reckoned with.

The DLC costs $9.99 on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. It’s also downloadable as a part of the game’s DLC Season Pass, which carries a price tag of $19.99.
