More Details On Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag Blackbeard’s Wrath DLC

December 11, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Blackbeard’s Wrath is good news for AC fans, bringing with it three new playable characters and a live event.

We have more information on the latest DLC for Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag. Blackbeard’s Wrath will allow you to play three new multiplayer characters, Blackbeard, as well as the Abstergo Avatars the Orchid and the Jaguar. We also have more information on the two new maps.

Blackbeard is one of the most prominent pirates of legend and real life, and is a major figure in Black Flag’s story. Ubisoft’s depiction of Blackbeard focuses on elements that make him a good playable character, namely, his brute strength, as well as a fearsome personality.

The Orchid is based on Jing Lang started out as a military advisor to a Qing Dynasty general. Having been assigned a diplomat, she takes the opportunity to travel around the world and becomes a pirate, on the road to joining the Templars. Playing the Orchid, you will find her to be a fast, agile swordswoman.

The Jaguar is based on Cuali, an Aztec warrior who escapes the Spanish conquest of central America by taking to the seas. He finds his way into joining the Templars, and proves himself an able warrior. The Jaguar is presumably a stalker and a prowler, and his favored weapon of choice is the (completely historically inaccurate) axe.

The new maps are set outside the main Black Flag storyline, both from Assassin’s Creed 3, but are presumably accessible via Abstergo. Fort St-Mathieu was a fortified hilltop in the American frontier, and one of the settings of pitch battles in the American Revolutionary War. Plantation presumably refers to Virginian Plantation, a simulation location created by Abstergo. This is a giant sugar plantation, complete with estates and different buildings, including pens, stables, residences, and more.

To celebrate the release of the DLC, Ubisoft is also hosting a multiplayer event, called Takeover, this December 13 to 15. You will be able to play in these two maps, and you can choose to play the three new characters. Meeting the objectives in said event will get you unique rewards, including the title “The Pirate Legend.” Please note that Takeover will not be playable on Playstation 4 and Xbox One for now. Ubisoft is setting it for these consoles in a future date.
