When it comes to video games adapted into movies, there are far and few between on what is actually considered worth watching. It’s a problem that some deal with going into the process of making a film as there’s plenty of source material to swift through and a short amount of time compared to the video game. With that said, there are a few video game titles that fee like a cinematic movie experience such as Uncharted.
Uncharted from development studio Naughty Dog certainly feels like you’re playing a movie and as a result, it could transfer well into a movie. However, instead of directly adapting the video game, the upcoming Uncharted movie will act as a prequel to the video game series. Taking on the lead role of Nathan Drake is actor Tom Holland who commented on the production to IGN. Apparently, Tom recently got a draft of the script for this upcoming film and feels that the production will be incredible. It’s a brand new story that works not only with video games but as a standalone experience. Because this is a prequel essentially to the video games, those that have not experienced the installments released by Naughty Dog will not feel left out.
This is all new information given out at the same time for both veterans and newcomers to the franchise. Of course, with that said, there is still a struggle to actually get this production up off the ground. There have been several directors that have taken on the project only to leave and it’s caused several delays.
Knowing that the actor who is taking on the role of Nathan Drake feels confident about the storyline is certainly nice to hear, but we’re still left wondering just when this movie production will actually start-up and begin filming. In the meantime, we do know that there are two other movie video game productions in the works which are a new installment to the Silent Hill series along with a Fatal Frame adaptation.
