DICE Promises To Fix Battlefield 4 Before Any New DLC Or Games (As It Should Be)

December 5, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

In many ways, DICE has failed to deliver a good product here, and now they have to make good.

You can’t say DICE was not listening. The beleaguered developer has finally responded to complaints about Battlefield 4, pledging not to release any more DLC, and not to work on any new games, until it has been fixed.

We at GameRanx have been running down some guides for the benefit of Battlefield 4 players, but we also could not ignore how, again and again, we have had to cover stories on bugs, game issues, and even troubleshooting guides for the FPS. In fact, let me link to you said articles right here:

This level of brokenness should be unacceptable coming from a premier gaming company like EA, and especially not from a developer like DICE.  Heck, I catalogued how players were already making its brokenness apparent over a month ago.

Many fans speculate EA coerced DICE to release the game in such a state hastily so that they could launch in time for next gen, but I do not feel that this theory addresses everyone’s concerns, and of course, neither DICE or EA have actually mentioned any reason. We do not even know if they intend to directly acknowledge their mistakes at all, as their statements thus far have stealthily focused on what they're doing to fix things, over what they did wrong. It may be a bit of a mystery at the moment what exactly happened in development, but here and now, they’ve made a commitment, and it’s up to the fans, many of whom feel screwed over, to keep them to their word.
