Players can throw around excessive profanity in private sessions without any issues, but Microsoft won't tolerate profanity laced videos uploaded from the Xbox One. If Microsoft finds one of your videos accompanied by endless swearing, they will revoke Xbox Live privileges.
TechCrunch states that multiple players reported losing Xbox Live account privileges such as Skype and other applications. Microsoft confirmed to TechCrunch that profanity filled videos uploaded using the Upload Studio editor on Xbox One, means losing some – or even all – Xbox Live features.
Microsoft's full statement reads as follows:
To be clear, the Xbox Live Policy & Enforcement team does not monitor direct peer-to-peer communications like Skype chats and calls. Also, we take Code of Conduct moderation via Upload Studio very seriously. We want a clean, safe and fun environment for all users. Excessive profanity as well as other Code of Conduct violations will be enforced upon and result in suspension of some or all privileges on Xbox Live. We remain committed to preserving and promoting a safe, secure and enjoyable experience for all of our Xbox Live members.
Microsoft did not clarify if these users can gain access to lost features after a period of time, or if the ban is permanent.
The Xbox One didn't launch with Twitch.tv steaming, yet the application still lets players view other streams. Once the streaming feature arrives, this same policy shouldn't apply. But until Microsoft further details what constitutes as "excessive profanity," you may want to avoid any aggressive commentary.
