Mercedes Benz has revealed the first car in Polyphony Digital’s Vision Gran Turismo project, the Mercedes Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo.
These cars are being designed in collaboration between Polyphony Digital and the different premier car manufacturers licensed for the game. As you can see, these will be cars that can work in the real world, and will in fact have real life models, and all the cars in the Vision Gran Turismo project will be available to players of Gran Turismo 6 via an online update.
The AMG Vision has a sleek look reminiscent of the Playstation 4, down to a pulsating red line that runs across the car’s body. (The red line here does not really indicate any problems with the car guys, really.) Polyphony Digital also liberally took inspiration from many Mercedes Benz cars of the past in designing this dream car. Its front grill is based on the classic Mercedes Benz 300SL, but is made of LEDs, allowing it to display different colored patterns.
The body is made in the shape of Mercedes Benz’s classic sports cars, with an aluminum spaceframe chassis and carbon fibre components. It also boasts a moveable rear wing and features reminiscent of classic competition cars.
Let me reemphasize here that Polyphony Digital is making these as real cars, that actually have working prototypes from the car manufacturers as proof of concept, and all this effort is being put towards making new cars that were put back into Gran Turismo. Polyphony Digital will have even more Vision Gran Turismo cars revealed in the near future, but in the meantime, enjoy this trailer for the AMG Vision.
