Do you recall the original trailer of the Sonic The Hedgehog movie? Most video game movie adaptations receive some flack online from fans of the IP and while most adaptations are not as well received with the core fan base, the Sonic movie hit an all-time new outcry online. This movie adaptation has a few issues with the narrative and characters, but again, being a movie adaptation there’s going to be some differences. However, what the internet didn’t expect was the design choice for Sonic.
It was a laughable adaptation that fans despised. In fact, it got so much heat online that it caused the production to get delayed while the team went back and redesigned Sonic. I’m no expert on the matter, but I’m sure it’s a lengthy process that required more than just a new copy and paste throughout the movie. While the fans hated the original Sonic design, everyone has been patiently waiting for the redesign to be unveiled.
Now a new supposed leak online may have unveiled the Sonic character which looks quite a bit more authentic to the movie. This leak comes from a Twitter user online so you should take this as a rumor for now.
There were plenty of fans recreating scenes and still images to showcase how the production team should have designed Sonic so it very well could be just another case of a fan drawing than something official. Regardless, the redesign should be unveiled soon as the movie adaptation is said to come on February 14, 2020. It’s likely going to make that date as it was already delayed to ensure the fans received a design that was appealing to fans.
