Like it’s older brother Mortal Kombat, Injustice: Gods Among Us will be making the transition from home consoles to the PlayStation Vita. The Ultimate Edition of NetherRealm Studios’ super-powered fighter will transfer all of the gut-punching action onto the small screen, but with a new developer behind the wheel.
Armature Studio is the group of creative folks behind the mobile version of the game, and really, the developer’s main goal when signing up for this project was to make The Ultimate Edition as impressive as what’s been done on consoles. We’re often left with anemic handheld versions of major console games, but developer Jack Buser isn’t willing to sacrifice any quality with his team’s project.
“The PS3 version has beautiful lighting, destructible environments, and — most importantly — 60 FPS fighting,” he said via the PlayStation Blog. “We worked tirelessly to bring this experience to the handheld, and pulled out all the stops to push the PS Vita as hard as we could to make all of the above happen.”
The many rumors concerning the Vita port have come true, and while Armature wants the two products to be almost identical, there will be new features in the Vita version that separate it from the crowd. Players can expect ad-hoc multiplayer, traditional multiplayer over wifi, and touch controls to Story Mode and various S.T.A.R. Labs Missions.
