Amazon’s pre-order page states that the Destiny beta will be available early 2014.
Do not take out your celebratory vuvuzelas yet. Bungie has yet to confirm if this information is correct, and Amazon does not seem to be privy to information other retailers are not aware of. They put a placeholder date of June 30 next year for the game’s official release date, but they do not actually know when it is coming out.
Having said that, this does go in line with earlier rumors that the pre-order bonus for Destiny is the beta itself. Read their straightforward wording of this information below:
Amazon claims they will email you a beta access code within 1 business day of you placing that pre-order, and that this is also being extended to all pre-orders that came before this announcement. However, they can always change or end this promotion at any time. Not to disparage Amazon, but there’s enough room in there to be skeptical.
Another reason to be skeptical is that they say the beta will be coming for all the systems: PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. They may have cast the net wide by saying early 2014, but they can’t guarantee the beta will be coming for all four systems within the same time frame any more than they can confirm the actual release date.
It would be great if it turns out we get the beta this early, but for now, take this rumor with a pinch of salt.
