Microsoft shared a new trailer for upcoming flight based shooter Crimson Dragon for the Xbox One. Crimson Dragon is the latest from Panzer Dragoon creator Yukio Futatsugi, under production of Grounding and Land Ho!
The original Panzer Dragoon series was developed to help fill out the lineup for the Sega Saturn. Yukio Futatsugi was in his early 20s at the time, and he conceived of the game’s post apocalyptic sci-fi setting and arcade shooter mechanics, later to be adapted into a rail shooter. The game’s success led to the production of sequels Panzer Dragoon II Zwei and Panzer Dragoon Saga, before eventually leaving the company.
Crimson Dragon is now a fresh start for Futatsugi, who is now steering his own career under his own company, Grounding. Futatsugi has gone on record that he hopes to eventually remake Panzer Dragoon in HD, but Crimson Dragon is a shooter of a slightly different flavor. This time, the plot is a little closer to Reign of Fire, as you take control of some dragons to fight off their brethren, who threaten to drive the human race to extinction.
Crimson Dragon was originally announced to be exclusively Kinect controlled. Now, the game will use Xbox One’s stylish new controller, although there will still be some retained Kinect functionality.
The game is coming November 22 for $ 20, and preordering now will net you another exclusive dragon. Steep asking price aside, Xbox One certainly seems to have some of the cheapest games for its launch. It may not necessarily make it the cheaper option, but for the games it may be a better overall deal.
