Japan's Nikkei reports that Sega Sammy Holdings has begun the process of acquiring Index Corporation, Atlus' parent company. Aside from the fact that Index will be purchased for about 14 billion yen ($141 million US dollars), details are scarce right now.
We can only hope that Sega treats Atlus well and lets them go about their business, because Sega's track record with some of their Japanese titles leaves much to be desired. Though I honestly don't believe that we should worry too much about Sega not allowing Atlus to release most of their niche titles in English, I do know that there will be blood on the streets if Sega turns Persona 5 into the next Valkyria Chronicles 3.
