In a blog post on the Fable forums Lionhead has announced that it has delayed the release of Fable Anniversary, originally due for an Autumn 2013 release, to February 2014.
Lionhead says the decision was made in order to create "the best game possible". Fable Anniversary is an updated version of the original game with HD graphics and achievements.
In the release date announcement Lionhead promised that the game will come to both retail and the Xbox Games Store and teased "top secret announcements".
"I know I speak for everyone at Lionhead when I say that we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been up to, and it gives us great pleasure to let you know that you can expect Fable Anniversary to be both on-shelves and online via the Xbox Games Store in February 2014.
"It’s not easy making these decisions and I know that us asking you to wait a little longer whilst we get to play test the game every day is downright unfair, so over the next few weeks we’re going to be sharing with you more screenshots, more game footage and perhaps even some… top secret announcements!"
The delay means there are currently no first party Xbox 360 games coming this holiday. While Microsoft has promised to support the console for another three years the outlook isn't particularly promising.
Lionhead is also developing Fable Legends, a four player co-op focused game for Xbox One.
