Microsoft has announced the release date of the Xbox One as November 22nd worldwide.
On his blog Major Nelson wrote:
"Today we are announcing Xbox One will be available on Friday November 22, 2013 in all 13 of our initial launch markets – Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and USA. Many more markets will follow in 2014."
At gamescom recently Sony gave the PS4 launch date as November 15th in North America and November 29th in Europe and Latin America meaning Microsoft will launch after Sony in the US, Canada and Mexico but prior to the European release of the PS4.
The release date also means that the Xbox One will be available a week before the Black Friday sales in the US.
The Xbox One is set to be launched for $499/€499/£429 while the PS4 will debut for $399/€399/£349. Microsoft intends to release the Xbox One in 13 countries this November while Sony will be introducing the PS4 in 32 territories. Originally the Xbox One was set to be released in 21 regions but Microsoft was forced to delay the launch in eight countries in order to have more time for Kinect voice command localisation.
Microsoft's Yusuf Mehdi says the company will continue to support the Xbox 360 for three years.
