Some people might argue otherwise, but Capcom’s sixth entry in the Resident Evil franchise didn’t find a great deal of success. In the eyes of the critics, the blockbuster failed to deliver in both scares and overall quality, while the commercial performance told the tale of a franchise that could no longer flourish on name alone. Resident Evil 6 only launched last October, and if you’re looking to at least see what it’s all about, the game is now at a low, low price of $10 on Amazon.
Was it a complete failure? Not exactly, as Capcom did confirm that it shipped 5 million copies up to this point. But according to the Japanese company, various "challenges" and "inadequate organizational collaboration" caused the game to still perform below initial expectations.
Don’t expect the next title to be an all-out action romp, though. Resident Evil 6’s reception has seemingly forced the developer’s hand, as former Capcom marketing boss Michael Pattison told MCV that the next entry will likely return to its horror roots.
"We have obviously seen the consumer response and the PR response," Pattison said. "You'll find where we go next will likely be more targeted at our core fanbase."
At $10, it might just be worth satisfying your morbid curiosity.
