A couple of days ago, "Mega" pokemon were announced as the latest in additions to the X and Y saga. The implications of turning average Pokemon into beings that can tangle with legendary creatures are pretty crazy. While we are excited to see all of the changes Nintendo and Game Freak are making with this new generation of Pokemon, it's also a bit scary to think that our beloved franchise may never be the same again. It seems the days of Ash Ketchum and Pikachu are long gone!
As the waves of progress begin to swell, more information on these "Mega" Pokemon begins to appear. A video released yesterday revealed Mega Blaziken to the gaming populace. The special stone required to evolve your Torchic into Blaziken will only be available for a short promotion on October 12 later this year.
This new facet of the Pokemon series will be sure to change gameplay in a huge way. It will also be interesting to see how this affects the value and playability of certain Pokemon; it's already been announced that only certain Pokemon will be able to make use of the Mega evolution feature.
During the 2013 Pokemon World Championships today, another new Mega Pokemon was revealed. It came in the form of Mega Kangaskhan and adds a second entity into the mix. Ever wondered what Kanhashkan carried around in its pouch? Now we don't have to guess at it anymore!
