In a new post today, Major Nelson gave a rundown of what enticing online features were coming to the Xbox One, including some new information on the Enforcement United initiative.
First things first, Nelson asserts that their fans tell them Xbox Live is the best at providing online multiplayer, so they are making sure they will be bringing that over to the Xbox One.
He then talks about a feature called Smart Match, which will allow you to start looking for matchmaking online, move over to the entertainment side to watch a movie or TV, and instantly get notified and be launched back into the game when a match is found. Smart Match will also figure out which players are most like you, so you may generally expect to play against people as good as you.
Enforcement United is Xbox One's new reputation management system. It takes into account when people rate you for good or bad behavior, and will rank you accordingly. You yourself can sign up for the initiative, helping Team Xbox by rating people and their behaviors. Enforcement United is going to be built in such a way that it won't allow groups to manipulate the system.
Regarding achievements, Xbox is introducing a new type of achievement called a Challenge, which is a timed multiplayer objective. Developers will be able to update achievements over time, and of course your Gamescore from your Xbox 360 can carry over.
Finally Game DVR will allow you to record gameplay videos directly using your Xbox One, and Upload Studio will allow you to edit your video from the console as well.
This isn't a live interview, but I'm generally impressed with the features as Nelson explains them here. Has this won you over as well? Feel free to sound off in the comments.
