Skybound Announces That They Will Finish Telltale’s The Walking Dead Series

October 8, 2018 by Jordan Biazzo

Thank you Skybound!

Skybound has officially announced that they will be working with Telltale Games to help produce the final season of their Walking Dead series.

The news comes from Robert Kirkman himself (creator of The Walking Dead), during a NYCC 2018 The Walking Dead panel. Kirkman said he couldn’t afford to lose both Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) and Clementine in the same year, and is happy to have Skybound step in and finish of the highly anticipated finale.

“I have to go rogue for a moment,” Kirkman said during the NYCC panel. “I got word just before we came out here that…we’ve successfully negotiated with Telltale Games…for our company Skybound to come in and see Season 4 of the Telltale game to completion. We can’t lose Andrew Lincoln and Clementine in the same year.”

Check out the official tweet from Skybound down below:

We’re SO happy to announce that we’ve reached a deal with @telltalegames that will allow Skybound to continue #TheWalkingDead: The Final Season! Let’s wrap up Clem’s story right! More details to come soon. pic.twitter.com/ShyREw65iq

Earlier last month, Telltale announced that the company has gone bankrupt and will be shutting down all future projects immediately. The sudden shut down left both fans and developers in the dust; without knowing what would happen to future projects such as The Stranger Things Game, and The Wolf Among Us Season 2 as well as all the developers that worked on these great titles.

Thankfully, Kirkman, Telltale Games, and Skybound managed to work out a deal and at least of The Walking Dead Final Season come to fruition. It is still sad to see Telltale Games gone from the gaming community, despite whether you liked their games or not, they had major impact in both the genre and the gaming world alike. Hopefully, the talented developers all land on their feet and continue making great games!

The Walking Dead: The Final Season has two available episodes now to play on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The rest will come later within the year thanks to the help of Skybound.
