The Tekken Revolution character poll results are in, and in Comic Con series producer Katsuhiro Harada revealed the winner in grand fashion: The sexy female vampire is the next original character to be added to the F2P fighter.
The female vampire character basically had a very big lead over everyone else in the poll, taking over 1/4 of all total votes. The female Tekken Force member subsequently got 1/5th of the votes, Shin Kamiya getting 12 % and the Zombie Girl getting 8 %. As the top 4 ranking characters, Harada had special art commissioned for them to unveil in Comic Con.
When it was announced, it did seem like the character choices were too random, but looking back at the descriptions released shortly after the poll started, the Tekken developers did throw a lot of crazy ideas into the game (including Gon, a fighting kangaroo/raptor and a bear) and the poll did seem to be a pretense to get the devs to do a wilder idea that got shot down. Whether that's true or not, Harada also details the difficulties they would have making each character, so they may also have been looking to challenge themselves.
Given this line of thought, the female vampire may actually have been expedient for gamers. Harada's description explained that the main impediment to this character being developed was that the Tekken staff mysteriously had a large occurences of births and marriages, first when making Tekken 6, and then again for Tekken 6 Bloodline Rebellion. Harada considered this a sign of good fortune and stored her concept for the near future.
The vampire's background is anything but benevolent. A long prisoner of the Rocheforte estate, she has a mesmerizing beauty that belies her dark personality. She was also going to be given a martial art to fit with the game, but also would get fireballs.
And this is the most intriguing aspect of the character, as she could possibly be used now to beta test the idea of using fireballs in a Tekken style fighting game. This is a unique opportunity, since Tekken Revolution isn't part of the main series, and has no connection to the series storyline, so they can take calculated risks like this. Basically, I'm saying they could test fireballs here in anticipation of making Tekken X Street Fighter. This would be way later in the pipeline, but if you're looking forward to that game you may want to keep tabs on this character.
