Assassain Creed Odyssey Post-Launch Content Detailed; Will Include Both Paid and Free Content

September 19, 2018 by Jordan Biazzo

Will you be buying the season pass?

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is one of Ubisoft’s biggest titles of 2018, and with its rapidly approaching release date of October 5, both Ubisoft and the PlayStation Blog announced some new exciting details about the game.

The new details mostly consists about the game’s post-launch content. Yes, its crazy to talk about post-launch content for a game that has yet even released, but as big as the world is in AC Odyssey and with its rich characters, lore, and locations, there was no way Ubisoft wasn’t going to add DLC.

Thankfully, we now know what to expect. Season pass owners and fans of the game will have two major story arcs to complete. The new story arcs will be told in multiple episodes, with each episode releasing approximately six weeks apart. In between the episodes, players will be treated to the Lost Tales of Greece. This will add new story quests, in-game events, daily and weekly mercenary contracts — all for free! So it is nice that players who opt out of DLC will still get some new content post launch.

The first major arc, Legacy of the First Blade, launches in December, and introduces players to the early predecessors of the Assassins, including the first person to use a Hidden Blade. In Spring 2019, The Fate of Atlantis confronts players with creatures straight out of Greek myth and challenges them to discover the secrets of the sunken city.

Additionally, Ubisoft has announced that season pass holders will receive a free copy of Assassin’s Creed III Remastered for free! Both games will support 4K and HDR on PS4 Pro, and sport higher-resolution textures, improved lighting, and other visual enhancements. This is a nice touch from Ubisoft. Now all of the Assassin’s Creed titles will be on current generation besides first title in the franchise — Assassin’s Creed.

Alongside the juicy details about the game’s post launch content, the Blog chatted with Jonathan Dumont, Creative Director for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey about the game. Some great questions were asked such as what Dumont is most excited for people to discover in the upcoming AC game. Here’s what he had to say:

JD: I think it’s interesting to see some of the visual diversity we have. The Greek islands, more in the north, have more forest areas. There are always choices at the heart of the game, so there’s a lot of possibilities for you to exercise them not only in quests, but also in play style. What I’m excited about is that you can choose to play the game fully in stealth; you can go in forts and play it stealthy. Assassin’s Creed is over 10 years old, and through the years we’ve introduced different mechanics, so we all play a different way.

I think our game caters to the way you want to play; if you say, “I just want to shoot people with a bow and arrow, because I’m a ranged guy,” you can actually do it, and if you want to stealth most of the game, you can do that. And if you just want to fight and kick people off ledges, you can do that as well. I’m actually pretty excited that the way people want to play Assassin’s Creed will be available to them, and a viable option.

Dumont had some very interesting talking points over in the full interview. If you want to check out more about what to expect when the game launches, check out the interview right here!

Assassins Creed Odyssey is set to release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 5th. Are you excited for the upcoming AC game? Let us know in the comments below!
