Released last June 12 exclusively to the Playstation 3, Tekken Revolution is an enterprising new incarnation in the Tekken franchise. Downloading the game is completely free, and characters are slowly being rolled out, everyone free. On the flip side, the game is very constrained compared to the usual release, offering only 14 characters, no story, not even a practice mode. The game offers stats as microtransactions, allowing you to add small tweaks to your fighter of choice that affect actual gameplay. You can also pay for tokens to join in on the game's Arcade, Rank, and Player Match modes. The game has also been generally simplified to appeal to new players, with mechanics like Special Arts and Critical Arts added in to help them. Overall, the game feels more like an experiment than a full Tekken release, but has been very popular among fans thus far.
For the original character poll, the Tekken team offers an interesting proposal. They have had several character ideas lying around that have remained unused through the years. Fans will get to vote on the character concept of their choosing via a Facebook poll, to narrow down to three characters. The final decision is scheduled at San Diego Comic Con next week, to be decided upon by the development team with the help of the fans.
Among the ten choices is Shin Kamiya, the character from the Tekken CG movie, as well as a female Paul, and even more crazy animals like a salmon and a praying mantis.
You may want to keep your expectations level for this one, but this looks like it could be a lot of fun. You can vote for your pick here (Note: you'll have to opt in to the Facebook Polls app).
