Ryse: Son of Rome isn't intended as a one-off title for its developers at Crytek.
In a lengthy feature in Polygon, Crytek chief Cevat Yerli revealed that the game may spawn a sequel—should the first title be successful. Yerli also took the opportunity to discuss the game's development and the studio's decision to axe the game's dependency on the Kinect.
According to Yerli, the team developed several control prototypes for the game to see if the developers and the testers themselves enjoyed the use of the game with the Kinect.
Eventually, the team settled upon its current controller-heavy scheme and the decision was made to make it a launch title for the Xbox One.
