#18 GTA Player Calls Emergency Services to Report Character’s Death
In late 2014, a cheeky gamer named David Hellens in England called emergency operators to report the death of a character, detailing to them how someone he was playing with named Max had been slipping “in and out of consciousness” after he was shot by another player. He acted as if it was happening in real life.
According to local newspapers, he did some “fake screaming and shouting” and his 12-minute effort netted him the attention of two ambulances. The call-taker told the news that his report sounded so believable that she was left shaken by the incident.
Following the fake call, police arrested Hellens and charged him for making the malicious call, to which he pled guilty to and was sentenced to complete 120 hours of public service.
