#9 Turkish Government Broadcaster Claims GTA Cheat Codes Were Used in Failed Coup
Turkish pro-government news channel ATV invited mockery and derision from the Turkish public after they found a piece of “evidence” from the coup attempt that failed to oust President Erdogan. Pulling out a notebook they “found” in the garbage bin near the site of the violence, a journalist recited “strange notes” that she says is titled “cheats” and included codes for health and weapons, armor, weather, and codes to summon various vehicles from the game.
The reporter then prayed to God in asking him to help President Erdogan “purge all of the traitors.” Needless to say, the report earned the station scorn from the public, and promptly issued an apology stating that it was the reporter’s and editorial board’s mistake to cite the cheat list as evidence of a coup.
