#10 Man Walks Across Los Santos To Raise Money For Diabetic Mother
While some people run marathons in the real world to raise money for causes, one game sought to do so in-game… and he did it all sitting down in front of a computer screen. Instead, Tommy Refenes, a popular game designer and creator of Super Meat Boy, decided to help his diabetic mother by launching a campaign to draw awareness to his sister’s fundraising page for an alert dog that could help her in case of an emergency.
To raise awareness of diabetes and funds to help his mother, Refenes spent 6 hours in Grand Theft Auto 5. Instead of playing the game as one normally would, Refenes walked all the way across the game map and livestreamed the effort. He also spent an additional 2 hours walking across the desert in Red Dead Redemption and another four hours in GTA San Andreas, to a total of 13 or so hours.
