Now that every Xbox One will come packaged with the improved Kinect sensor, expect more games to integrate Kinect functionality to control core aspects of the game.
After developers Infinity Ward first revealed Call of Duty: Ghosts at the Xbox One reveal, in a post show interview with Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, he teased the reveal of voice commands closer to the Call of Duty launch.
Hirshberg wants to ensure that the latest Call of Duty will use the Kinect technology to make the "gameplay better" and not use the Kinect for "novelty's sake."
Last year we saw EA and BioWare release Mass Effect 3 with Kinect voice commands available at the game's launch. The voice commands allowed players to read out the abbreviated version of conversation responses and also issue commands to squad members to use their powers in combat. Aside from a demonstration of the potential of the Kinect or the future character interaction, the Kinect voice commands didn't drastically improve Mass Effect 3.
Infinity Ward demoed to press the Kinect's ability to measure heartbeat and facial movements, allowing for a different level interaction and possible feedback. Integrating head tracking and altering the game on your body's responses may significantly change gameplay, as opposed to the obvious squad commands, grenade throwing arm gestures or even telling your in-game dog to "sit".
When E3 arrives, Eric Hirshberg assures that fans will see more at E3, specifically the playthrough of the "ship graveyard" level.
