Figures based upon popular video games characters are dime a dozen these days. And even figures based upon somewhat obscure personalities is being a common sight.
Now, what if the game character in question is actually a horror movie icon? Okay, that's a little different… And what if said horror movie icon is from a bad adaptation (as if there are any other) for the Nintendo Entertainment System? Okay, that's definitely different.
Better yet, what if said figure based on a horror movie icon, from an old NES game, was pained in the same nonsensical color scheme, even by one Nintendo standards? Now that's crazy talk. But that's also what the new Jason Voorhees figure, of Friday the 13th fame, is all above.
As you can see from above, he's all decked in purple, with a vaguely neon blue tinted mask and hands. What the heck? Because, again, that's how he appeared in the NES game. It's a produce of National Entertainment Collectibles Association and will be a San Diego Comic-Con-exclusive figurine.
According to Destrucoid, the idea stemmed from a hardcore Friday the 13th fan who made something similar himself, NECA saw it and thought it was a good idea, and there you go. And the best part? It's only $25. Now do you want one?
By the way, for those who aren't familiar with the game, I would recommend watching an early installment of the Angry Video Game Nerd, in which he tries his best to play a game that is damn near unplayable.
