The Kickstarter campaign for Among the Sleep, the first-person horror game in which you play as a two-year-old child, ended this weekend with plenty raised to get the game finished and shipped by the end of this year as planned. In fact, backers have contributed $248,358 in total, nearly 125% of its original $200,000 goal (which backers surpassed earlier this month).
The extra money raised also means that the game will get proper Oculus Rift implementation, above and beyond the basic implementation that Krillbite Studio has already planned for the game and that will be available in the Rift version of its playable alpha. Since the total raised also surpasses the $230,000 stretch goal, the game will also ship with a commentary track “with thoughts and anecdotes from the development”.
The next stretch goal was at $250,000, which the campaign didn't quite reach, but Krillbite Studios has adjusted the goal to “almost $250,000” so that the team can bring its “supersecret free DLC” to the game anyway. Apparently, this DLC will be developed in collaboration with backers, will be “a separate story or part of the game”, and will be released for free. That collaboration will take place over the next month on the backer forums, which all who pledged $5 or more should have access to.
Among the Sleep should launch for PC, Mac, and Linux by the end of this year. For those who haven't pledged to the Kickstarter campaign but still want the game, you can preorder at the Krillbite website.
