According to IGN's sources, developers Trion Worlds will see over half of its employees let go.
IGN reports that the numbers reach close to 80%, but Trion Worlds says the figure is an "exaggerated" report of the actual number of layoffs.
The report continues to detail that Trion Worlds' San Diego studio saw the largest amount of layoffs. Details then go onto explain that security is escorting employees directly out of the studio. In addition to the layoffs, people in senior positions will not receive any severance pay.
A Trion Worlds representative contacted IGN to confirm that all of the layoff claims remain "100% false."
Of reported staff laid off in San Diego, majority of the employees come from "mostly Defiance support staff and dev staff." Any employee that handles generic services and responsibilities also fits into this group.
In April, Trion Worlds released their console and PC MMO, Defiance, based on the Showcase science fiction show of the same name. Showcase recently announced the renewal of the Defiance television series for a second season of 13 episodes.
A Trion Worlds representative released a comment in response to the layoffs.
