A release date for Platinum Games’ The Wonderful 101 has finally been announced. It may not be in the launch window, but this visually attractive action-strategy title will be making its way to the content-starved Wii U on Sept. 15.
Really, it’s been difficult to get a read on exactly when this game would be coming out. We kept hearing from Nintendo that it would hit this mysterious “launch window” that seemed to extend for endless months, while creator Hideki Kamiya just went around Tweeting that it would be revealed at the most random of times. It’s been frustrating to deal with, but it looks like we finally have solid evidence that this will, in fact, be a real game that we can all play in the near future.
However, you shouldn’t expect a long, epic quest in The Wonderful 101. According to Kamiya, his latest project may just be a little on the short side when it comes to pure content.
“If u hate to finish a game the next day u buy it, u better not play TW101,” the designer Tweeted. “I focus on how it is fun, not how long it lasts till the ending."
Who really knows what that means? Everyone has a different number of hours in his or her head for what constitutes as a fully feature, worthwhile game. As long as we’re all not expecting to sink the same amount of hours in The Wonderful 101 as we did in Skyrim, I think we’ll be satisfied.
