Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Trailer Gives us a Short History of Pirates

May 13, 2013 by Ian Miles Cheong

This video will take you deeper into the true history behind Assassin’s Creed 4.

Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, called the True Golden Age of Pirates.

The developers are using the trailer to announce the launch of a Tumblr blog to provide viewers with a historical crash course on the Golden Age of Pirates, with a new chapter posted each week this month.

In the first chapter, viewers learn about the brutal life of a sailor in the 18th century, the "Pirate King" Henry Avery whose exploits grew to legend and inspired a generation, and the Spanish War of Succession which sowed the seeds of piracy in the Caribbean.

In Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, players will be able to relive the explosive events from the Golden Age of Pirates.

It's out on October 29 for the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and next-gen platforms including the PlayStation 4. Here's our information blowout from last month of what we know of the game.
