As Ubisoft promised Wii U owners when Rayman Legends, previously exclusive to Nintendo's console, was delayed yet again so that it could launch on multiple platforms at the same time, an online challenge mode for the game is now available on the Nintendo eShop. As of today, Wii U owners can download the Rayman Legends Online Challenges App to play the various challenges and hopefully keep them going until the game launches in August.
To coincide with the launch of the app, Ubisoft has published a trailer that briefly demonstrates some of its nine game modes.
Murfy's Dungeon involves making your way through a dungeon-style environment at speed as a wall of lava chases you. It looks like you can play co-op, one (or potentially more) person controlling the character running and jumping through the level and the other using Murfy to move platforms and press switches.
The Neverending Pit and the Infinite Tower look like basically the same principle, except that in the former players must safely make their way down through a level and in the latter they must travel upwards. Both examples have multiple characters on screen, so hopefully these are co-op too.
Land of the Livid Deads looks like another speedy level with another wall of lava in pursuit, but in the video we can see translucent characters that are probably ghosts from other players across the world. A figure next to a picture of a tape measure in the corner of the screen shows how far you've managed to get, so you can compare with your friends.
The Online Challenges App will provide a chance for you to get some of that Rayman action and compete with your friends. It launches today. Will you give it a try?
