Bethesda has been releasing sneak previews over the past couple of days for a new game, The Evil Within, which was officially unveiled today. It's the first game from the creator of Resident Evil's new studio Tango Gameworks.
Formerly known as Zwei, The Evil Within is a horror game that's due to arrive on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, as well as next-gen consoles some time in 2014.
“We’re incredibly proud to announce The Evil Within,” said Shinji Mikami. “My team and I are committed to creating an exciting new franchise, providing fans the perfect blend of horror and action.”
Mikami is best known for his work on Resident Evil and its sequels and has been quietly developing The Evil Within over the past few years. His company was purchased by Bethesda's parent company Zenimax in October 2010. Zenimax also owns id Software and Zenimax Online Studios, the latter of which is currently developing The Elder Scrolls Online, due for release later this year.
Further details about The Evil Within will be released later today.
In the meantime, you can check out the trailer below. It runs for about a minute.
