Impire, the sinister strategy title that released on Steam earlier in the year, still has plenty of fiery content to give to its loyal fans. A swath of single-player, multiplayer, and customization features have just been added to the fray, and most importantly, all of the additions are free to those who’ve already purchased the game.
When Paradox Interactive and Cyanide first released Impire on the PC in February, the campaign was the main attraction. The multiplayer modes included were still in beta, but that’s no longer the case. Both the PvP and co-op play are no longer being tested, and have also gained two new game types thanks to this update:
- Hell on Wheels: players must help their demonic forces escort a wagon into the enemy base, while preventing rival players from doing the same to them.
- Survival: Co-op mode where demons protect their own unit from incoming heroes while attempting to build power.
The improvements don’t stop there. The campaign has also been enhanced through fresh runes with unique powers, new customization options for protagonist Báal-Abaddon, and settings options meant to improved navigation through heroes’ ladders.
While we found difficulties recommending Impire at launch due to it committing the “unforgivable sin of being boring,” this could be the update that the game needed to justify the price tag. And that price is a little bit easier to swallow this week. Impire is a part of Steam’s “Midweek Madness” sale, so new players can jump in for the cool price of $9.99.
