Like Turn-Based Strategy? Duh, of course you do, it’s the best. Want to fund a team that’s trying to make a new one? You can do that through Kickstarter! You can give the money to Boston’s “KING Art Games” Studio so they can make their game Battle Worlds: Kronos!
Don’t worry if you don’t feel like giving them any money right now, though, because the game has already been fully funded! Anything you give now will just help with the development out and make the game better while it’s being put together, but you can already be assured that it’ll come out!
It’s a turn based game that takes a lot from other tactics games like Advance Wars, but it’s controlled via hexes rather than squares for movement. Presumably this means the Rock Paper Scissors style unit interplay, but the kickstarter also suggests that unit placement and upgrades are also going to play into combat.
There’s multiplayer support for quick-hot seat gameplay and an asynchronous mode too, along with a map editor.
The studio previously developed the highly acclaimed Book Of Unwritten Tales, a point and click adventure they created because they couldn’t find funding for this game. Kronos has actually already existed for a while in a prototype form, but it couldn’t get the proper funding at the time because they were told a market doesn’t exist for it anymore.
Hopefully this project results in a massive success. We haven’t had a game like Advance Wars since… Advance Wars. The team have put themselves in excellent company, now let’s wait to see if they measure up.
