Sony has announced that Pottermore will come to PlayStation Home next month. The Pottermore site has more information on its blog, with a post that explains that the Pottermore experience in PlayStation Home will involve “a selection of beautifully illustrated Moments from Pottermore.com” made 3D so that users can explore them with an avatar in PlayStation Home.
That avatar will be customisable, and while it's not made obvious whether or not you'll use your existing Home avatar, it's probably a separate experience. After all, I'm not sure J.K. Rowling would be too happy to see this 3D version of Pottermore populated with avatars dressed in the variety of revealing clothing that is available in PlayStation Home. Instead, you can dress your avatar in outfits like uniforms, house robes, and “more casual wizard attire”, which will probably still be fairly family-friendly. As this is Home, you'll also be able to purchase additional content in the form of animal companions: owls, cats, and toads.
As for what you'll actually do in Pottermore at PlayStation Home, aside from wandering around Diagon Alley or riding on the Hogwarts Express you'll be able to play four mini-games. One of these is Book Herding, shown in the trailer, which looks like a bizarre chicken-chasing-style experience only instead of chickens you're running around after books. Apparently you'll also be able to “take part in an illicit Wizard's Duel”, as well as the more tame activities of a Pottermore quiz and collecting Pottermore Trading Cards.
Sound like fun? If you haven't played through Pottermore yet, making your way past chapter seven of the first book on there and getting sorted means you get more content when it launches on PlayStation Home in April.
