The two companies will be teaming up to create a new trilogy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games. Titles in the series are scheduled for development and release each year.
"Activision is a leader in the gaming industry and we are honored to have them as the global video game partner for our new hit series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," wrote Sherice Torres, senior VP of entertainment products at Nickelodeon. "We are confident that these upcoming games will take gamers through interactive environments and action-packed adventures that truly capture the essence, tone and exciting elements of the Turtles."
The press release added that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games will cater to audiences of different generations and not just viewers of the upcoming kids' TV show on Nickelodeon, which is set to go live this Summer.
"We respect this passion and look forward to working with Nickelodeon to create games that embody the spirit of the property."
At this time, Activision did not reveal who would be developing the games or what platforms they plan to release the games on.
Whatever it is they have in the works, it'll have to be better than the abandoned Michael Bay movie version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Nothing good would've ever come of that—and I'm glad it's cancelled.
Expect future updates for the TMNT games as the TV show gears up for release.
