If you thought that Wargaming’s free-to-play title World of Tanks was anywhere close to receiving a sequel, we have some bad news for you: It’s a fat ‘no’ from the studio.
The answer comes from a discussion between GameSpot and Wargaming regional publishing director Alex de Giorgio who flat out denied that World of Tanks 2 would be happening. “World of Tanks 2? No.”
It seems to make sense though, games like World of Tanks, League of Legends and even PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds view their titles as a service to the consumer, focusing rather on pushing out new content updates or slight graphical changes to make their money and retain their player base. Releasing a sequel isn’t really necessary.
It’s this constant evolution; that’s been the hallmark of the game,” said de Giorgio explained as he explained that a sequel “doesn’t really make sense to us.”
In other World of Tanks news, the action-based title will be receiving a 4K patch for the Xbox One X when it launches next week.
WW2 Tank Based multiplayer action game World of Tanks has been confirmed to receive an Xbox One X enhancement patch during Microsoft’s Gamescom press event yesterday.
The free-to-play title will run in native 4K, bring the destructive warzones of World of Tanks to life even more so. While your monitor may not be 4K, Wargaming released a brand new trailer to illustrate the enhanced quality of the title.
World of Tanks is out now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
