Mash-ups are weird. They’re like the new Crossplay, but for Nintendo instead of Sony. With that in mind, Nintendo has announced that it will be teaming up with Atlus for a Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem game for the Wii U, with Atlus behind the wheel.
Absolutely nothing else is known about the game, save for a trailer that was released to accompany its announcement at today’s Nintendo press event. The trailer, seen below, shows the different characters characters from both Shin Megami Tensei (specifically SMT: Nocturne) and Fire Emblem, and ends with a “Development in Progress” tag hovering over the logos of Nintendo, Atlus, and Intelligent Systems.
It’s hard to tell whether the game will be a turn-based JRPG like Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, or a tactical RPG like Fire Emblem. We’ll just have to wait for Nintendo to release further details about the game at E3 later this year. With any luck, they’ll tell Famitsu about it before then.
