Aliens: Colonial Marines Goes Gold, Out February 12th

January 17, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

Any bugs in the code will now have to be squashed with post-release patches

Chris Faylor, Community Manager at Gearbox Software, has taken to the company blog to announce that Aliens: Colonial Marines has gone gold on PS3, 360, and PC. That means that “all parties have examined the release candidate and signed off on the code as final and suitable for manufacturing”, so from this point on no further changes will be made and the game will soon be on its way to physical stores and made ready for upload to digital ones like PSN and Steam. The game will launch, as planned, on February 12th of this year.

Naturally, Faylor suggests that players who know they're going to want the game put down a pre-order, now that the release date is getting close. The pre-order details look pretty confusing at a glance, but there are actually just two editions and both are the same in North America and internationally. In fact, the only difference is that the standard pre-order (i.e. not the fancy collector's edition with the figurine) is only available in GameStop in North America, but doesn't seem to be exclusive to any retailer elsewhere.

I've had a go at the multiplayer on this game, and it's pretty fun. Is it on your wish list during this quiet time of the year?
