Sims 3 University Life Lets Your Sims Play ‘Juice Pong’, Hang Out with Nerds

January 10, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

and party, party, party

After EA announced three more expansion packs and one “stuff pack” for The Sims 3 that are currently in the works, we've got some more information on the first due to arrive: The Sims 3 University Life, which launches in March.

We also get a trailer, which shows the various aspects of university life: academics, politics, and lots and lots of fun. We get protests, beer pong (“juice pong”), “experimenting” (um, two girls kissing), spray painting, foldaway beds, and much more.

According to the Sims 3 blog (in what is apparently the first of “many” posts about University Life), we're told about the process of actually studying to get a degree, social groups that will feature in the expansion, and that most popular of all university activities: partying.

Apparently, Sims studying different subjects will be able to interact with a variety of objects to build up their understanding and skill, rather than just sitting at a desk for hours every day while you the player twiddle your thumbs. For example, Science and Medical students can work on a skeleton, and Communications students can have a radio show.

The social groups come in three flavours: nerds, rebels, and jocks. You'll get different advantages for hanging out with the different groups, so you can choose to hang out with only one or all of them depending on how it fits your Sim's story. According to the blog, putting in enough time with the nerds can unlock one of the new social group careers: video game developer.

Finally, partying involves the kinds of things you'd expect. As well as playing “juice pong”, your Sims can have bonfires and – if you preorder the Limited Edition of the game and get the “Party Pack” – throw costume parties.

It doesn't sound much like my university experience, but I get the feeling things are a lot different in the US universities (colleges?) on which this is clearly based. Are you looking forward to reliving your time at university in Sim form?
