Like the fashion industry, there are bizarre trends that make their mark in the gaming world too—sometimes literally. Squid-ink shooter Splatoon kicked off the ‘paintball’ genre in 2015, tasking players with projecting streams of ink at opposing teams in a quest to graffiti as much territory as possible, or battling through octopus filled worlds in singleplayer. And if you thought Splatoon 2 was the only other inky action game on the market, there’s some good news.
Zack Bell Games has announced a 2D ‘splatformer’ called INK in partnerhsip with publisher Digerati Distribution. In INK, colour is more than a weapon, it’s also your key to uncovering the world around you. You control a white square that needs to bounce against platforms, splatter its enemies with coloured ink, and reach an exit portal to access the next level.
INK is due to release on September 19 (North America) and September 20 (Europe) for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It originally released through itch.io and expanded its reach to Steam in a deluxe edition.
