Since its reveal two years ago, Runic Games’ Hob has captured our imaginations with its wordless narrative and peculiar, transformative world. Today Runic has taken the opportunity to lock in Hob’s official release date via a ‘yuuge’ devlog update.
At last year’s PAX West, we thought Hob was a very under the radar kind of adventure, where the world itself became both puzzle and antagonist, luring the hooded hero towards beautiful, scenic vistas in the distance. Hob tells its narrative through the environment, foreshadowing, and doesn’t rely on NPC power in the slightest. It’s got that silent undercurrent that made Shadow of the Colossus such a minimalist classic.
Hob is due to release on September 26 for PC and PlayStation 4. If Hob’s nuzzled its way into your heart, you can pre-order it through Steam today for $17.99 USD, or through the PlayStation Store to snag a bonus theme.
In celebration of Hob’s imminent release, Runic Games has launched a special collection that lets you pick up Torchlight, Torchlight II and Hob with a massive discount–which you can pick up via Steam and GOG.
