Following our latest news on TimeSplitters 4 and how publishers weren't willing to back it, it seems we might have the next best thing as "100,000" Strong for TimeSplitters 4," a Facebook campaign has paid off and they're now entering development in a TimeSplitters mod for Crytek's CryEngine.
Keep in mind that this is a Crytek-approved mod, so it's no easy feat. Here's what the modding group's head, Daniel Wesoly, had to say:
Update on the CryEngine TimeSplitters project : We have begun work and are just about done wrapping up recruitment! so if anyone missed this brilliant opportunity to work on a new TimeSplitters then email me at [email protected]. Thank you!
Wesoly and his cohorts plan to cover all three TimeSplitter games in the mod they're creating. In another round of good news for TimeSplitter fans, if it's good enough, Crytek has promised that they will let the modders have access to the original game's assets, too.
We'll keep you posted if and when more news develops. Glad to see fans doing their bit for the gaming franchises they've missed. Hopefully they succeed. Give him an email if you want to help, as I can imagine, he'll be needing it.
Thanks, VG247
