Fumito Ueda Wants to Change The Shadow of The Colossus Remake

June 29, 2017 by Katrina Filippidis

But he “can’t mention” how just yet.

It came as a surprise when a remake of Team Ico’s Shadow of the Colossus was announced at E3, but nonetheless, it made a lot of fans happy. In news that may create an additional wave of excitement, Game Director Fumito Ueda revealed to Eurogamer that “wants to change something” about the upcoming game.

Speaking by way of a translator, Ueda explained that he “doesn’t know if it’s possible” to go through with the planned changes, and that he “can’t mention” what he wants to change in case one of his proposals doesn’t surface in the final game. Recently, Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that the remake will feature revamped assets and a more modern control scheme. Yoshida also said to Famitsu that Ueda “wasn’t that involved” in overseeing the development process. Ueda appeared to agree, and went on to quash any rumours about the potential inclusion of unused colossi, saying ” I don’t think about changing this history. It’s finished with 16 enemies. It’s OK.”

Shadow of the Colossus will be releasing for PlayStation 4 sometime in 2018.
