Disney is developing a game called Disney Infinity to compete with Skylanders Giants. The game was formerly known as Toy Box and will allow players to use plastic tokes to transport characters to virtual worlds using a “flat device” connected to console via USB and infared.
Toy Box was revealed at a New York Times interview with Disney CEO Robert A. Iger, who spoke on how Disney and Pixar characters would be able to interact with each other.
The info comes from a fansite called Stitch Kingdom. According to the report, the site claims to have seen “a video produced for retailers which will be used to educate them on the product as well as familiarize them with the content
Stitch Kingdom states that a starter pack for the game will contain: a reader, three tokens for Monsters Inc.’s Sulley, Captain Jack Sparrow and Mr. Incredible.
Additional characters such as Mike Wazowski, Randall, Hector Barbossa, Davy Jones, Mrs. Incredible, Syndrome, Dash, Violet, Woody, Jack Skellington, Agent P, Rapunzel, Anna, Ice Queen, Sorcerer Mickey, Tow Mater and Francesco Bernoulli are to be released at a later date
Radiator Springs from Pixar’s Cars will also be available with Lightning McQueen and Holly Shiftwell, while The Lone Ranger – based on the Gore Verbinski movie starring Johnny Depp – will be released featuring the Lone Ranger and Tonto.
Toy Story in Space with Jessie and Buzz Lightyear is also on the docket, as well as Phineas and Ferb expansion packs.
Disney Infinity is slated for 3DS, PS3, Wii, Wii U, and Xbox 360.
