New eSport Tekken World Tour Announced; PlayStation Releases Video Featuring Kid Ink’s Tekken Inspired Song

Earlier today, streaming platform Twitch and gaming publisher Bandai Namco announced a brand new partnership which creates the Tekken World Tour.

The Tekken World Tour is going to be an eSports league for the best Tekken players around the world. It will be exclusive to Twitch broadcasts and will feature circuit events, competitive leagues, and more.

The idea of the World Tour is to grow a long-term infrastructure for the upcoming fighting game. Instead of the game releasing and dying out in a couple of months, Twitch and Bandai hope to keep content flowing for Tekken 7.

They have also managed to give out the official calendar for the world tour, all of which take place in Europe. However, there will also be some tournaments that take solely online, check out the calendar down below:

  • GCC Major – Qatar
  • Moscow Fighting Arena – Russia
  • VSFighting –  UK (Birmingham)
  • Dreamolition Derby – Germany (Munich)
  • Celtic Throwdown – Ireland
  • Street Grand Battle – France
  • Milan Games Week – Italy
  • Colosseum – Italy
  • Barcelona Games World – Spain
  • Warsaw Games Week – Poland
  • Paris Games Week – France

Online:

  • July 3 rd – July 4 th – Online all Platforms
  • September 11 th – September 12 th   – Online all Platforms

Richard Thiher, Program Manager at Twitch, is very exciting about the partnership as he said the following in a press release:

In addition to all the Tekken 7 news, PlayStation released a brand new video featuring rapper, Kid Ink. The video showcases Kid Ink’s history with the Tekken franchise and some insight on how he created the Tekken inspired song “Now It’s Personal.”
